Part One: Interview With Library Commissioner Chris Brown

Part Two: Tour of Harold Washington Library (Date TBD)

Meet Chris Brown, Commissioner of Chicago Public Library (CPL).  CPL, created in the aftermath of the Great Chicago Fire, celebrates 150 years of free services to all Chicago residents.

Guests Welcome!

CPL has been a leader in championing intellectual freedom since 1936, when it was the first library in the country to draft and adopt an intellectual Freedom Policy. Today, it continues to take a stand against banning and censorship by declaring its 81 library locations as Book Sanctuaries.

The library also plays a key role in bridging the digital divide by providing internet access, online services and professionals who train adults on using technology from an intermediate to an advanced level. Its library card, offered at 81 library locations, offers educational resources that students can use in and outside the classroom.

To learn more about what your library card can do for you and your family, join us for this informative two-part Zoom presentation with Commissioner Brown, followed by a guided visit to the historic Harold Washington Library on (date and time TBD).
