A very special event just for IWA members, spouses and friends:
ADONIS: THIS IS HOW LOVE ARRIVES
“Adonis is not a poet: he is not one poet amongst others, but the poet, the only one. His poems
have changed what poetry could be in the Arabic language, and in any language.”
~ Donatien Grau, Musee du Louvre

Arica Hilton, owner of Hilton Contemporary, has invited IWA members and guests to a special
reception at her gallery to meet 93-year-old Syrian poet, critic, and essayist, ADONIS. Born in
Syria in 1930, ADONIS (Nee Ali Ahmad Said Esber) is considered “the greatest living poet of
the Arab world.”
THIS IS HOW LOVE ARRIVES is the first exhibition of his collage paintings in America. For
Adonis, his art is a visual extension of his poetry: dissertations on love, life, peace, and war.
We will have the opportunity to meet Adonis and hear him read his poetry, while surrounded by his remarkable art. Refreshments will be served.
Please share with friends and associates and register on the IWA website by Thursday,
September 7.
