Urban and Rooftop Gardening

Program: Urban Gardening: - how to transform a barren balcony, terrace, patio, roof-deck into a green oasis and a lush retreat. Get tips on how to move away from a bland concrete space towards a mix of Bali, Bangkok or Nice. Paul van Halteren has visited many gardens of the world (formal gardens, parks, and botanical gardens) through his decades of personal travel. These have been a great inspiration to him for his current work as an urban gardener in Chicago.
Speaker: Paul Van Halteren, Honorary Consul of Belgium in Chicago, is also a passionate gardener. He started “Urban Gardens by Paul” after having a gardening hobby since the early 1970's. He specializes in container gardening, and creates, plants, waters, and fertilizes the plants, shrubs, herbs, evergreens that typically are in containers in rooftop and other urban garden settings. Additionally, he offers clients an “out of town/vacation time” service to provide plant care that while clients are away, so that they return to a green, welcoming space.
