Film (to be discussed): Potiche (2010)
French-Belgian Comedy directed by Francois Ozen. Set in 1977 France Catherine Deneuve, plays a submissive wife who gets to run her family umbrella factory after the employees rebel against her husband’s tyrannical management.
Potiche (which means trophy wife, vase or window dressing in French) is a sweet comedy involving human nature and politics. Also starring Gerard Depardieu as the town’s communist mayor.
