European Culture: CCC Art, Reima Victor Ratti, Artists of the Civilian Conservation Corps
Presenter: Sarah Salto, Museum Educator
This program is presented by the Dunn Museum of the Lake County Forest Preserve which has a large collection of Ratti artwork. Reima Ratti, who emigrated as a child to the US from Finland, came of age during the great depression. Just like many young folks of the time he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps to support himself and his family. His sculpture was used as the model for the CCC Worker Statue. He provided many other contributions of paintings, sketches and other artistic mediums.
