Program: "Equus : Story of the Horse"  documentary film preview (50 min) followed by an open discussion.

The relationship between man and his noble steed is almost as old as civilization itself. Ever since the mysterious beginning of our extraordinary partnership, horses helped shape the human world. Together, humans and horses flourished side by side. What makes us so perfect for each other?

Join us to preview the Canadian anthropologist and film maker Dr. Niobe Thompson documentary exploring the impact of horsepower on human history.  A fascinating story of how we transformed and tamed the wild horse into over 400 specialized breeds today. This is the remarkable journey of wild horses for millions of years, their first encounter with humans hunting for meat, appearance in cave art as early as 30,000 years ago, disappearance during ice age and then reappearance in grasslands of central Asia where original nomadic Turkic Kazak tribes first harnessed the power of these versatile and graceful creatures 6,000 years ago.
