Program (in English): Discussion of Reforming the Criminal Justice System
Our criminal justice system incarcerates far more people than is required for public safety and puts barriers in the paths of those who are released in building productive lives, pushing them back into criminal activity, creating more victims. The resulting damage falls disproportionately on individuals, families and communities of color. John McLees, husband of member Bozena Nowicka McLees, will lead a discussion about the great variety of efforts underway in Chicago to reform our criminal justice system and to address the needs of those who are incarcerated or who have been released from prison. Information about these issues and about how we can get involved in addressing them is available before and after the presentation at the website he maintains at http://incarcerationreform.com
