Program: "The Turks and Troy: The ‘Treasure of Priam’ According to Ottoman Documents." Prof. Aslan will share the Ottoman documents on Troy's finds which have remained almost unnoticed until recently. Schliemann's excavation at Hisarlk (Troy) inspired as much writing and discussions during his lifetime as it did after his sudden death in Naples in 1890. With the help of these previously unknown documents, the history of the discovery of Priam's Treasure can be understood from a new perspective. Reception to follow at the Edgar and Deborah Jannotta Mesopotamian Gallery.

Presenter: Prof. Dr. Rüstem Aslan, Director of Excavations at Troy, Department of Archaeology, Onsekiz Mart University, Çanakkale/Turkey
